Program Description Medicine Hat College has transfer agreements with various institutions across Alberta and other provinces. Starting courses at Medicine Hat College can provide significant advantages over a large university, such as cost savings on tuition and accommodation, smaller class sizes with teaching-focused instruction and personalized advising and support. Depending on the program choice, students may be able to take up to two years at the MHC campus and then transfer on to a university and complete a degree program or professional university program. Starting at MHC will allow students to get the most out of the teaching through teaching-focused classrooms. Kinesiology is the science dealing with the interrelationship of the physiological processes and anatomy of the human body with respect to movement. As a graduate with a degree in Kinesiology, you may work as a rehabilitation or physical therapist with specialized training in their branch of therapy, as a consultant designing sports equipment and researching ways to improve athletic performance, exploring health problems, or improving designs for artificial limbs for amputees. Or you may choose to earn your Ph.D. to research and teach in the field. The general field of Physical Education and Recreation Administration may lead to several career paths such as planning, organizing and directing of sports and recreation programs, or creating and promoting independent leisure lifestyles for people who have special needs. Courses in Physical Education allow up to two years of credit at Medicine Hat College before completing a degree at a university. Medicine Hat College offers transfer in the Bachelor of Physical Education Degree and Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology to the University of Alberta, Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, a Bachelor of Arts or Science in Kinesiology at the University of Lethbridge, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Saskatchewan. If you plan to complete a Kinesiology degree at the University of Saskatchewan, you should take only the first year at Medicine Hat College. Students can study one to two years at Medicine Hat College before transferring to the University of Alberta, University of Calgary or the University of Lethbridge. As a student registering in Physical Education/ Kinesiology at Medicine Hat College, you must consult with the Department Coordinator or Academic Advisor regarding course and program selections before your registration can be finalized.
